Introduction

Presenting your offer through the channels best suited for the intended target audience is something every start-up should aim for. This is especially important in the early stages of a company development when audience acquisition is a priority. And I was lucky since Fractionum's team had a clear idea of who they wanted to target when they requested my services.

Keep reading to see how I helped design a set of digital deliverables for Fractionum's desired audience.

About Fractionum

Fractionum is an investment start-up offering young adults the opportunity to invest in a commercial real estate by purchasing fractional ownership in properties while managing and operating them on their behalf.

Team asked for a set of digital deliverables to support launch of their brand. Requested assets included landing page (desktop & mobile), website with the member area and email templates that would encourage waitlist sign-ups.

Ideation

After discussion and an ideation session with Fractionum's team I had a better understanding of the desired style, direction and type of content that would help them achieve their goals.

Fractionum's core users were defined as young working adults who realized the potential of investing early on but didn't have enough cash, knowledge or easy access to market to start growing their properties portfolio.

Fractionum's style guide

In order to appeal to desired users, I decided to center visual style and general approach around the idea of investing being fun, exciting and accessible to everyone. This resulted in a few specific design choices:

  • Tone of voice was to be friendly and conversational
  • Color palette was built around bright hues of green and purple
  • Always use sunny and bright imagery to compliment visual style

Landing Page

Main goal for landing page was to convert visitors into waitlist sign-ups. I decided to include blocks like overview, social proof (testimonials) and blog section to establish credibility. We also came up with an idea of a quick multi-step quiz that would help to self-qualify interested visitors.

After a bit of exploration phase involving a couple of low-fidelity options I created a final landing page design optimized for both desktop and mobile.

Website

For digital-first company a good website is not just a necessity but a chance to convert visitors into platform users. In our case full website had similar goals to the landing page but had a chance to provide more information to the users:

  • Educating visitors on the topic of fractional ownership (how it works page, FAQ)
  • Establishing credibility (blog, news, testimonials)
  • Encouraging waitlist sign-ups (CTAs throughout the website)

Property details

In order to inform visitors about the potential of fractional investing we decided to display a full property breakdown for a selected number of properties. All non-members would be able to see and share this information.

I designed property details page as a long-scroll that includes key financial information, general overview, explanation of tier system and more. Adding an interactive returns calculator would also give a chance to the user to plug-in their own numbers and see the returns specific to the property.

Members Area

Once the user joins the platform they would be able to log-in and perform a number of actions: managing their wallet, seeing uploaded documents, checking transactions, browsing available properties, etc. And since all of these actions would also be available on the dashboard page this is where I focused my design efforts.

I decided to show key financial information as a first thing above the fold to provide a quick overview of the account. After scrolling down users will find widgets of their financial activity, investment properties, available listings and more.

Email templates

In order to keep users engaged on the platform and update them on the new investment opportunities Fractionum's team wanted to focus on regular e-blasts. After considering what kinds of e-blasts would be the used the most, I created three templates:

  • Welcome email.
To be sent to the new waitlist subscribers.
  • New Property.
Update regarding new investment opportunity to all platform members.
  • Blog posts roundup. To help members make educated decisions and share industry-specific knowledge.

Outcomes

After successful completion of this project Fractionum's team had development-ready designs for the landing page optimized for desktop and mobile, website with the member area and a few email templates. This package would help kickstart their digital presence and establish a strong foundation for further growth.
